WORKFORCE

Provost’s labor force, the people who live and work in the area come from a diversified rural agricultural and/or small business background. 85% of Provost residents resided at the same address one year ago and 50% lived at the same address for at least the past five years. The local workforce remains stable but the oil patch employs a number of migratory workers from other parts of the province and Canada in addition to many local residents. The majority of local employees display excellent skills and a strong work ethic. The workforce is willing and able to do what’s necessary to get the job done!

Over 60% of the population between the ages of 20 - 65 in the M.D and Town of Provost have received at least a high school education and almost 47% either have a trade school, college or university certificate, diploma or degree. Average annual earnings for those who work full-time all year round are $38,000 within the M.D. and Town. When you combine our valuable pool of skilled labor with the fact that Alberta maintains one of the lowest rates of work days lost as a result of labor disputes, it’s not hard to see the advantage of building your business in Provost.
